Valentine's Already?

Even though the holidays have just ended, you will soon be reminded my Hallmark, Hershey's and now me, that the most "romantic" holiday is just upon you. 

Valentines Day.

Your pocket books may be thin after the winter holidays, but planning ahead can assure that you have enough to spend on your special one. Here are a variety of great Austin restaurants I have personally tried that provide for a very intimate, interactive and perfect location for a Valentine's dinner. 

Hudson's on the Bend  - Hudson's offers a Valentine's tasting dinner for two that is absolutely phenomenal.  The service is fantastic, the food is to-die-for, and the small house setting makes for a quaint, intimate experience.  Hudson's is known for their local-caught, fresh game meat.

Uchi - I also recommend the chef tasting menu for two at Uchi as well. If you enjoy trying new different things (especially Japanese inspired food) this is the perfect place for you.  Uchi also offers a very small intimate setting as well with great, friendly, knowledgeable service. If Uchi is booked, try their new, not as intimate but still as delicious location, Uchiko.

Vivo - If you are looking for a rich meal at a not so rich price, Vivo is it! Their tag line "Better than sex... TexMex" says it all.  The renovated house just east of The UT campus sets the mood for a very intimate meal. I recommend the Vivo Ria to drink and the Guacamole Puffy Tacos for dinner. The icing on the cake is that each female receives a rose at the end of the meal.

La Traviata - I had to add an Italian restaurant to the menu, and La Traviata is the perfect place for an Italian Valentine's dinner.  Everything about this tiny Italian restaurant on 3rd and Congress is amazing! The food. The location. The service. The price. Keep in mind that it is very quaint, so early reservations are a must. They are also typically closed on Sunday, so if you are looking for a February 13th dinner, this might not be the place for you.
